YIN members across Maharashtra plan to work on cleanliness projects
As the country launches the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan today in the memory of the Father of the Nation, a whole host of Young Inspirators Network (YIN) colleges have pledged to work for cleanliness in their towns and cities.

NKT COLLEGE, THANE
We have decided to make a difference by cleaning the area near our college. As it is said #charity begins at home, we have decided to clean Kharkar Ali Road, Thane. We have planned to take steps for the same. We are going to make posters and pamphlets regarding cleanliness, conduct street plays to spread awareness, find out the causes leading to unhygienic conditions by conducting a survey, taking steps to eradicate these causes and educate the people of the locality about garbage segregation, waste disposal and effects of dumping garbage on streets.
We also want to place garbage cans at regular distances so that people are encouraged to use them. We will also announce a day on which students and teachers from the college and people from the locality can join us on the streets and clean the area.

MIT BTECH COLLEGE, AURANGABAD
Students of BTech from MIT College have decided to initiate action against the issues that haunt the areas around the college. One major concern for these students is the garbage accumulation on either side of the road leading to the college premises and the #stench it releases. Through YIN, the students have decided to address this issue. They are planning to #spreadawareness by putting up posters urging people to use dustbins in the locality. There is a need put up #dustbins in the campus and the students are going to raise funds by collecting Rs 1 from each of the 8,000 students. This money will go towards the purchase of dustbins. The students will also pursue the garbage collection issue with the municipal corporation. The students plan to expand this drive to clean the entire city.

SHIVAJI SCIENCE COLLEGE, NAGPUR
The #waste that is produced is generally not disposed off properly. The stink emanating from this garbage is harmful to the health of the citizens as well as the environment. Apart from that, a lot of waste from roadside eateries is not disposed of properly either. The students of Shivaji Science College have decided to tackle this issue with the help of Nagpur Municipal Corporation and the State Government. The students have devised a plan to install eco friendly dustbins across the city.
The technology used for making of the dustbins ensures that water and carbon released by the garbage is absorbed. The students will also #createawareness and urge people to use these #dustbins. This initiative by the students will help the citizens and the #environment.

SIES GST, NERUL
Garbage is one of the major problems in India. Being an engineering college, we believe in finding a solution to our problems using technology so we are working on developing a robot for cleaning the college. We will divide the members into two teams. The sponsorship team will start looking for funds while the technical team will come up with multiple designs for the robot and finalize on one design. We are concentrating on completing this project as soon as possible so that there is enough time to identify and rectify errors. Once the robot is ready, it will be used to scan the college premises for litter. If it finds some litter, it will pick up and dispose it properly.

MODEL COLLEGE, KALYAN
#Dumpingofgarbage and waste on the road and empty plots create menace, stench and lead to diseases. There has to be a system in place for proper collection of #roadsidewaste. Apart from spreading awareness among the people, they need to be urged to use #garbage bins that have been installed by the civic bodies. Awareness is needed to change people’s mindset. Rarely do people stop anyone from throwing garbage in public places. This creates garbage menace. People talk about big issues and solutions but are reluctant to cooperate when it comes to the problem of garbage. It’s time to stop complaining and take up initiatives and ensure that everyone gets a clean environment to live a healthy and happy life.Model College students have therefore decided to take up cleanliness drive in the area around their college.
