YIN can bring about change in society
Pune: Representatives of various well-known colleges from Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad have highlighted the need to channelise the talent and energy of students in a way that it would be useful for the development of the society.
The representatives shared their views during a discussion session organised by Young Inspirators Network (YIN), an initiative of Sakal Media Group, at Sakal International Learning Centre (SILC) on Thursday.
Present for the discussion were representatives of colleges like SP College, DY Patil, MIT College, Modern College, Ganeshkhind road; HV Desai College, SB Patil College of Architecture, Swaraj College, Sarhad College, Ramkrishna More College, Law College, SNBP College, SBPIM, Nigdi, Pratibha Institute, Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Ravet, among others along with representatives from YIN.
During the discussion, Sandeep Kale, YIN Youth Officer – Rest of Maharashtra, briefed the principals and the college representatives about the activities of YIN.
Kale said that at present YIN is associated with around 2.5 lakh students and aims to provide them with a platform to showcase their talents and develop their overall personality.
During the discussion, Girish Pathade, Principal, HV Desai College, Pune, said, “YIN can be used as a very good platform by students to bring about a desired change in the society. YIN should get associated with every college and its students and consider adopting a village for a period of five years.”
He added that this way students can be encouraged to solve the basic issues faced by the villages through innovative means.
Dinesh Bhutada of MIT college, Kothrud, too spoke about the need to encourage innovation and create
environmental awareness amongst students.
He said that YIN can be a very good platform for the same which could also help in enhancing the skills of students and providing them with the right direction.
SP College Principal Dilip Sheth spoke about promotion of research qualities in students with remedial and advanced training which would cater to the needs of individual students.
Sheth added that at present it can be observed that students and parents do not accept failure, which increases the overall peer pressure on students. He stressed that this issue must be addressed at the college level.
Gaurav Dhakar, Chief Manager DCF and Strategic Head for Community Networks, gave a presentation on Sakal Media Group’s ‘Delivering Change Foundation’ initiative to the principals.
