Students of Arunodaya Dnyan Prasarak Mandal pledge to plant trees
CHALLENGE
Widening of the national highway is the main reason for deforestation in Jalgaon. Considering this and other reasons, green cover is constantly decreasing in various cities. Industrialisation and urbanisation are major contributors to it. The increasing number of vehicles are adding to pollution and creating serious problems for the environment. Considering this scenario, there is a need for treeplantation and a Jalgaon-based college has decided to address this issue through a treeplantation drive. YoungInspiratorsNetwork (YIN) members of Arunodaya Dnyan Prasarak Mandal’s Arts, Commerce and Home Science College, has taken the initiative to create a nursery to nurse saplings. These members will grow saplings and distribute them among the people for plantation. This will help increase the green cover. These YIN members are not only promoting treeplantation but will also take care of the planted trees.

Pollution affects the health of the people and it affects the oxygen level too. To control the increasing percentage of carbon dioxide, plantation of trees is needed. Since oxygen is produced by only trees, there is a need to plant more trees. In the nursery, these YIN members will grow saplings. Our college will provide all necessary help to these students needed for this cause. In-charge, Principal, SNDT Women’s College, Jalgaon

To maintain the nursery, we will divide all YIN members into different groups. These groups will be given different activities related to management of the nursery. Our main focus will be on getting maximum saplings from this nursery. As this is a very different initiative, many students are happy to be a part of this.
