Siddhivinayak College students reap benefits of entrepreneurship training
CHALLENGE
Students often don’t receive practicalknowledge through college curriculum. However, along with regular curriculum, imparting skill-based training to students will increase their self-confidence and also make them responsible citizens.
Mharshi Karve Shikshan Sanstha’s Siddhivinayak College has taken an initiative to promote skill-based training. This initiative aims at providing skill training or also popularly known as entrepreneurship training.
As a part of the initiative, industry leaders interact with students about how they can manufacture small products. Making innovative yet sellable products can help students generate self-employment. Having been inspired by this initiative, students have started working on various projects and are making products that are sold in various markets.

Students should pursue entrepreneurship rather than choosing a career that involves a nine to five job. We are providing skilleducation to budding entrepreneurs to help them fulfil their dreams. Our students have started taking an interest in this activity and have started making small products. We will help them find markets in the college, shops, housing societies, etc.

Growing unemployment poses a major threat as lack of jobs for graduate-level students has been a major issue. Our college introduced us to business as a way of earning. We moved to entrepreneurship soon after we came to know that being skilled can help us become successful. To begin with, we started with making products for Diwali.

We make smallproducts and search for a market for these products. We will be using socialnetworkingsites and the Internet for advertising. Along with this, we have also started approaching various housing societies in areas close to our homes.

We were confused about products to be made to start a business. Considering the Diwalifestival, we decided to start with making diyas, etc. We bought the diyas from Kumbarwada and decorated them. Products we manufacture include cloth bags, cakes and many other things.
