M.G.M. College of Engineering and Technology, Navi Mumbai
CHALLENGE
Not much is done to make youngsters aware of the career options and related academic courses available after completing schooling. Many are undecided about what they wish to pursue after standard X and XII. Due to lack of guidance, many students drop out after high school. There are even scholarships available for completing higher education but the students are not much aware of it. It is therefore important to inform them about the various career options and academic courses which would help them pursue career in the field of their choice. The Young Inspirators Network (YIN) members of M.G.M. College of Engineering and Technology, Navi Mumbai would create awareness in schools.
ACTION PLAN
- Our respective teams will take up the task to make a list of schools in which we would execute our plan for awareness.
- With due permission from respective authorities, we will present our power point presentation along with posters to provide information to the students.
- The presentation will cover info about the fields available for them to pursue after standard X. The students will be motivated to dream big. They will be told about NGOs and organisations that can help them with financial assistance for education. We will try to include such NGOs in our project and also arrange for lessons of life skills.
SOLUTION
Since the root cause of this problem is unawareness among students regarding which course or stream to take after standard X, we will take up the drive to spread awareness and guide them about which options to choose to suit one’s caliber and interest.

Over the years, India has moved forward with the infrastructure for education. We have more number of schools and colleges or universities, however the core eduction system is still the same.
Its more syllabus driven. The systwwem should encourage skill development. Students should be encouraged to opt for careers based on their interest and skills. For this, proper counseling is important. If these students are counseled properly, they will take up the right courses and excel.

To utilise the talent, we must first invoke it by finding and improvising it then only can we say that we have the power to make our mark in the world. Following the crowd and trends blindly should end. Look into yourself; be the one who you want to be and work accordingly, you will definitely succeed. The method of reaching out to students must be robust and interesting. The presentation should be powerful and interactive. Volunteers must see to it that the doubts and concerns of beneficiary are resolved clearly. This attempt of YIN to bring together motivated youth is truly appreciable, it brings a sense of responsibility in students and an attachment towards the society.

Competition has increased and we need to push the students to acquire knowledge other than academic lessons. The youth are eager to break the mold, work hard and achieve success on the basis of their talent and creativity. We need to help them choose the right career.

Despite the right to free and compulsory education not much efforts are made to ensure its implementation. Being a YIN member, we aim to make as many people as possible including both students and parents aware of the importance of education.

There are not many ways for the school students to get information about the wide variety of courses they can choose from. We are trying to bring change by informing them and guiding them.

A person excels when he knows what he is good at. If the student gets help to recognise his talent and gets to know of ways to enhance it, he would certainly contribute more positively to the society.
