YIN, a stepping stone for future politicians: Gade
PUNE: A leader dreams big and has the strength to realise his dreams while taking everyone along, said Vice Chancellor (V-C) of Savitribai Phule Pune University, Wasudeo Gade, during a workshop for students at the Young Inspirators Network (YIN) at Sakal International Learning Centre (SILC) on Monday.
Gade also outlined that such initiatives should be looked forward to by the young as these are a platform for future politicians. The young in the society should actively learn and grow from these elections.
Gade also shared his experience of elections at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) when he was a
student. “We should understand that a leader has to be intellectually strong and his vision should be the guiding force. The elections at Jawaharlal Nehru University are non-violent in each aspect and are organised by the students themselves. We all must learn this and understand that the power of democracy lies in communication,” added the Vice Chancellor.
Gade emphasised that for a healthy democracy, discussions and debates are the musts. The leaders should facilitate this among people and emerge as a guiding force for the greater good.
The students also interacted with the Vice-Chancellor about the role of youths in politics.
Vishal Chordia, Director, Strategy and Marketing at Pravin Masalewale, also shared his experience with the students about the leadership values taught in the classroom that are far different on the ground.
