YIN discusses city issues with IICMR students
Pimpri: The students of Institute of Industrial & Computer Management & Research (IICMR) Nigdi discussed the best possible steps to be taken by Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad to become a smart city.
The discussion was put together by the Young Inspirators Network (YIN), an initiative of Delivering Change Foundation (DCF). YIN has started these discussions in colleges across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad to involve young minds into the process.
The Chief of YIN project, Tejas Gujarati, and Co-ordinator of YIN, Snehal Mahadik were present. Students mainly discussed solutions for three vital issues of the city that are traffic, poverty and pollution.
Gujarati said, “We must discuss solutions and excel in the competition of Smart City project. We must ensure that our city is the smartest in the country.”
The solutions that came from the discussions were use of car pooling by an increasing number of people.
There is also a need to educate people about traffic problems.
One of the students questioned why the implementation of CCTV cameras on main junctions was not being done strictly? Students suggested their versions of a smart city.
While some said that smart means using resources properly, some said that use of technology should be more than that of human beings.
