2nd phase of YIN polls conclude on an exciting note
PUNE: The second phase of college elections for Sakal Media Group’s Young Inspirators Network (YIN) took place at various city-based colleges.
On Thursday, the election was conducted in Marathwada Mitra Mandal College of Engineering (MMMCOE) and Tilak Ayurvedic College, where students participated enthusiastically. Five candidates were in the fray from MMMCOE, for whom over 1,000 students cast their votes, while four candidates from Tilak College stood for the polls. There were some colleges from Pimpri-Chinchwad as well as from rural areas which went to polls. In Pune district, the election was held in 61 colleges where over 250 candidates contested in the second phase.
Polls were also conducted at colleges in Kolhapur, Jalgaon and Solapur districts. In Kolhapur, polls were conducted at DY Patil Polytechnic College, Rajaram College, Dr Mane College and Yashwantrao Chavan College. In Solapur, elections were held at Vasundhara Arts College, AG Patil Institute of Technology and Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay Dental College. A total of 45 candidates contested from this area in the YIN election. There were 12 candidates in Jalgaon as well.
There was an overwhelming response of the college students for the first phase of the polls conducted by YIN in the State from December 15 to 30. The colleges which could not participate in these polls had sought elections, which was carried out on these two days.
Counting of votes will be conducted in Sakal Media Group’s offices and the results will be announced in the presence of the local chief election officer. The next process will be held thereafter.
YIN movement has now spread all over Maharashtra. Youngsters have worked hard on personality development and various projects. There are a large number of leaders who are leading YIN in various colleges. Through the forum of YIN, various options will be given to solve problems of the youth.
The elected youth representatives will be provided training and will be participate in study tours and conduct research on various issues. They will also participate in various social conferences for youths.
