Pharmacy Students In Nashik to Collect, Distribute Medicines
Good health services are not affordable to people from economically weaker sections of society. Lack of awareness about health issues is rampant as their primary concern is to feed the family. Considering this, Young Inspirations Network (YIN) members of NDMVP College of Pharmacy, Nashik, have decided to collect medicines and give it to the needy. Under the initiative, YIN members will collect unused medicines (after checking expiry date) from households and distribute it to the needy. The students will also help create awareness about health-related issues among the underprivileged.
Being pharmacy students, the members have good knowledge of medicines. Therefore, they will not only check necessary details like expiry date, etc. of the medicines, but will also distribute medicines as per requirements. These students will also appeal to their relatives and friends to do the same. The YIN members will be creating a medicine bank and will distribute medicines through government or other available channels. They will also involve medical professionals in the project.
“People from poor financial backgrounds ignore their health due to some or the other reason. This initiative to provide collected medicines to the needy by YIN members is laudable. This will also help create social awareness amongst students and people will get medicines. Also, these students will get practical experience of working among the masses.”
Milind Wagh, professor
“Health is every person’s right and this initiative by YIN members will help people get their right to health. Apart from distributing necessary medicines, our students will also understand health problems prevalent among people. Also, unused medicines will be utilized for a good cause.”
Diliprao Darle, Principal,
“There are various medicines which can be taken without doctor’s prescription and we are collecting these medicines for deprived people. Many times, good medicines are left unused. This initiative will help deal with important health issues.”
“We will be creating awareness amongst people regarding medicines along with medicine collection. Every part of society can be a part of this initiative. This will encourage students.”
