Education is a Must Believe Jalgaon Yin Members
CHALLENGE
The poor implementation of the Right To Education Act and Education For All scheme have deprived many children of education. Other reasons like lack of awareness and apathy among parents, weak economic conditions etc, have resulted in illiterate children. According to a primary report, there are more than 300 out of schoolchildren in Tamba Pure, Hari Vitthal Nagar and Aksa Nagar slum area in Jalgaon. Lack of education will lead to unemployment, which compels these children to resort to illegal means to earn money when they grow up. In an effort to look for a solution, students and YIN members of Dhanaji Nana Chaudhari Vidya Prabodhini’s Arts, Commerce and Science College, have decided to help. These members will conduct a survey at various places to check the number of out-of-school children. These students will also conduct counseling sessions for parents and try to admit these children in nearby municipal schools. Also, these students will take up initiatives to increase and create interest in studies among these children.

“Students need to understand social issues and their social responsibilities which cannot be taught through academic books. This effort by students to get the out-of-school children education will teach those lessons of life. Through this initiative, YIN members are trying to understand the reasons behind the problem, mentality of the children and parents, socio-economic aspect. Counseling for parents to urge them to send the children to school is a laudable task. We are with them in this effort.”

“Migration is one of the major reasons why children remain out of school. Considering the migration issue, the government has started various initiatives. But still many parents are unaware about such initiatives so we are sharing this information with parents of out of school children.”
